For your home
From a first solar system to a battery upgrade, bring your home’s energy needs into focus.
Explore your energy system
See how solar, storage and your home work together. Choose an energy scenario or explore each part.
01 / Rooftop solar
Solar panels generate DC electricity in daylight. Output varies with sunlight, shade, temperature and system design.
Explore home solar02 / Hybrid inverter
A compatible hybrid inverter connects DC solar and battery storage to your home’s AC supply. Adding storage to existing solar may need a different design.
Discuss compatibility03 / Battery storage
A battery stores energy; it does not generate it. The usable energy, inverter compatibility and backup options depend on the selected system.
Explore home batteries04 / Meter box & switchboard
This cabinet houses the electricity meter and the home’s switchboard. The meter records grid imports and exports; the switchboard distributes AC power to household circuits. Solar used within the home does not pass through the grid meter. The battery connects to the hybrid inverter’s DC side.
Plan your home system05 / Your home
The home’s switchboard distributes AC electricity to appliances and circuits. Backup during an outage needs a compatible system and specifically configured circuits.
Find your starting point06 / Grid connection
Grid electricity reaches the home’s switchboard through the electricity meter inside the meter box. The meter records energy imported from or exported to the grid. Surplus exports depend on network approval, system settings and available capacity.
Plan your system01 / Use solar
Solar panels generate DC electricity. The hybrid inverter converts it to AC, then the switchboard distributes it to your home.
02 / Store surplus
Solar powers your home through the inverter and switchboard. At the same time, surplus solar charges the battery through the hybrid inverter’s DC connection.
03 / After sunset
Stored DC energy flows from the battery to the hybrid inverter. It becomes AC electricity, supplied to your home through the switchboard.
04 / Grid support
With no solar generation and the battery at its reserve level, grid electricity flows through the switchboard to your home. The battery is idle in this example.
